You can apply the mud by hand with a trowel as craftsmen once applied plaster to cover wood laths to form walls but the quickest way is to thin the mud and roll it on with a paint roller.

Drywall mud comes in dry and premixed products with the premixed mud being more expensive but much easier to apply. Paint the paneling with the super adhering primer just as you would any wall.

Let the primer dry thoroughly. Stucco can be applied over almost any surface. You can change the appearance of the stucco wall surface by covering it with a wall of siding.
